Jason Mittelman Fitness ProfessionalJason Mittelman has over 15 years of teaching, coaching, and training experience. He is dedicated to helping
people get to the next level. In addition to private fitness training, Jason serves as a sports performance coach, helping athletes
of all ages and levels in New York and New Jersey develop speed, quickness, agility, strength and overall conditioning.
Before launching his own personal training business in 2002. Jason was the fitness director at the renowned
Casa Specialized Private Fitness on New York's Upper East Side. He spent six years at this premier personal training
facility developing and training the fitness staff along with New York's stars, socialites, and executives.
Jason has honed his exercise philosophy and methods in the gym and in the classroom.
He holds a master’s degree in exercise science from Montclair State University and a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers
University. His philosophy focuses on achieving exercise adherence along with performance based
and task mastery goals. Jason’s approach to fitness is straightforward: move consistently,
move efficiently, and move effectively. He stresses the journey over the destination, the process over
the outcome. Jason serves as an educator, a motivator, and a leader on your fitness journey.
He is there with you every step of the way. Jason’s clients get results, because instead of
obsessing about where they want to go, they concentrate their efforts on what they need to do to get there. His exercise programs
include flexibility, strength, and aerobic training. Jason takes an integrated approach to training,
training the entire kinetic chain, linking the nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. The current catch phrase
for this type of training is "functional training". On the basketball court Jason
has worked with some of the nation’s top athletes, who moved on to college and professional basketball careers.
Jason began his coaching career at the esteemed Five Star Basketball Camp. At Five Star he was mentored by some of the best
basketball coaches in the country and he applied those teachings with great success. From the summer black-topped
courts, Jason went on to to be the boys freshman basketball coach at St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen, New Jersey.
After two years of service and upon graduating from Rutgers University, Jason returned to his roots in Brooklyn, New York where
he worked as the boys j.v. basketball coach and assistant varsity basketball coach at Midwood High School. Shortly
after his arrival his coaching abilities became apparent, and the head coach elevated Jason to the position of associate head
basketball coach for the boys varsity team. Currently, Jason is the Glen Rock High School boys varsity basketball coach.
Prior to becoming the head coach for the boys program, Jason held the position as the girls j.v. and assistant varsity
basketball coach. Within 3 years of working with the girls teams Jason helped lead the varsity team to the state sectional
championship game for the first time in over two decades. In addition to his work with the high school programs, Jason
also serves as a coach and clinician for the GRYBL in Glen Rock, New Jersey.
Jason
maintains certifications by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Council on Exercise, and by the National
Strength and Conditioning Association both as a personal trainer and as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
Jason frequently attends national conferences, workshops, and conventions, staying on top of the industry’s latest findings
in research, trends, and technology. Over the years Jason has had the opportunity to consult with, write for, and appear
in the following publications: Vogue, Self, Allure, Elle, Men’s Fitness, and People.
